When Shelancia Daniel moved to west Africa on an expatriate assignment for her husbands job, she didn't realize how difficult the move would be on her son Elijah. To help him adjust to his new surroundings, she created a series of stories about a little boy named Elijah and his imaginary Crab spaceship called Zachariah that he could use to travel around the world. She nicknamed these stores the "EZ Kids (Elijah Zachariah) Kids stories.
By the time Elijah was enrolled in school, the school had an assembly asking all the students what made them happy. Elijah said "My name is Elijah and I like to chase crabs." This was the birth of the Creativity Shell and the moment that made Shelancia realize that being a child and having an imagination is something we should nourish and not suppress in our children. By the time Shelancia and family moved back to the United States, she started focusing on the EZ Kids Creativity Shell which is a nonprofit organization that teaches arts, crafts and life skills to students.
The EZ Kids Design Center is a 20,000 sq building in Kingwood which is home to the Creativity Shell and also an amazing space that can be used by the community to host events, workshops and other activities that can raise funds to supports Creativity.
